I'm laying in a hospital bed. My face is so swollen, it's cartoony. My jaw doesn't hurt. They broke it in.. five pieces, and bolted it back together. I have morphine, but I'm not using it much. Mostly just to sleep. The real problem is trying to eat. Oatmeal is gross. Not a fan of grits by themselves. Chicken broth is really good. I can only eat stuff I can squish with my tongue. Overall, this has been a really cool experience. If I needed the operation again, I'd get it. They gave me a Valium when I first got here, just to calm me down, and after getting an IV, next thing I remembered was a flash of being lifted from my bed to the OR bed, then being in another room with other patients, and being wheeled to my current room. There was loads of blood that first night. Along with a tube going down my nose, and quite a ways into my stomach. But now my face is just fat. And my bones healing. I'll probably come home tonight.

Everyone from Mauri, to Andrew's youth pastor, to my old next door neighbor has come to visit me. And I appreciate it. But I think I'm ready for this wire to come out. And I'm ready for a full night's sleep. I feel like the girl in Invisible Monsters. She looks fine except her face is so distorted.. So she covers it with veils. Her mom didn't take pictures of her though. Idk where I'm going with this.. I'll add more later probably. Blame the morphine.
